Special Display at HERS

June 1st, 2025

The HERS Gift Shop is featuring a Special Display each month! June will feature “Hats and Handbags“.

Hats have been worn for thousands of years, serving various purposes from protection and practicality to fashion, status and religious or ceremonial significance. Hats helped keep the head warm in cold weather, kept the head dry in rain and shaded the face and eyes against the hot sun. The shape, design, and decoration of the headwear may also convey one’s state of life as well as social position, and wealth.

Handbags and Purses date back more than 5000 years! Initially, carried by men, these were practical pouches for carrying essentials, later evolving into decorative fashion statements carried by women and men!
I had a dear friend do a gallery wall of small hand bags she collected. She removed the glass from different frames she purchased from thrift stores and carefully placed each handbag with a short note of where it came from or what it meant to her. It was breath taking and the topic of conversation whenever she had guests in!!

Drop in the Shop at 234 Bentinck Street and check out our feature, great for Proms, Weddings and any special event or even for collecting.

Shop Hours: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday – 10:00 to 4:00 and Saturday – 11:00 to 3:00

If you see something you like, give us a call and we will hold it for you until you can drop-in!

Happy Pride Month

June 1st, 2025

The staff at Every Woman's Centre would like to wish a very happy Pride Month to all who celebrate!

This June, we celebrate love, identity, and the members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Pride is a time to honor the progress we’ve made, recognize the work still ahead, and stand together in support of equality and acceptance for all. Let’s uplift every voice, share stories, and spread love—because everyone deserves to live and love freely!

SANE Appreciation

June 1st, 2025

It's time to shine the spotlight on one of our amazing Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANE), Jody Ross MacDonald!

"As a registered nurse, I have always placed a high priority on providing patient-centered care. When I was offered the opportunity to join SANE in 2017, I knew I would be able to broaden my practice to incorporate trauma-informed care. Clients who have experienced sexual assault are at their most vulnerable, so it's critical to believe them, listen to them, and offer them both physical and psychological support.

In addition to promoting safety and trust, this trauma-informed approach gives survivors the tools they need to take an active role in their own recovery. SANEs help the survivor regain their power and aid in the healing process." (Jody Ross MacDonald, RN BSN SANE)

Jody's hard work and dedication to the SANE team does not go unnoticed. The Every Woman's Centre SANE Program is lucky to have Jody as part of their team!
