If you're interested in adding your name to our mailing list to stay up-to-date with upcoming events and other important news, please contact us by emailing info@everywomanscentre.com and provide us with your first name, last name, and a valid email address in which we can reach you at!

Closing Early Oct. 3rd

Every Woman's Centre will be closing at 12:00pm on Thursday, October 3rd for a private function and will resume regular hours on Friday, October 4th!

Limited Donations

While we appreciate all the love and support from our community members, as winter is fast approaching and we are preparing for our Adopt-A-Family Program, we must limit donations of clothing and household items.

If you are interested in making a donation, please contact the Centre beforehand at (902) 567 - 1212 and ask to speak with Diane!

Adopt-A-Family Registration 2024

Registration for Adopt-A-Family is taking place from October 7th - 11th from 10:00am - 3:00pm!

​

The focus of Every Woman's Centre Adopt-A-Family Program is to ensure CHILDREN are taken care of first. The priority of our initial registration from October 7th - 11th will concentrate on families with children. We will also consider others at another registration time which will take place on October 23rd - 24th. All registrations will take place by phone at (902) 567 - 1212. Please note that we DO NOT take registrations online.

Before you call, please have the following ready:

All Personal ID Info for ALL family members including source of income, date of birth, expiry dates, sizes, and a wish item suggestion per child.

​

Please have a pen and paper prepared to write down your appointment time for pick up.

​

Registration is subject to Adopt-A-Family Guidelines in regards to income, areas covered, and age restrictions.

PL Healthcare Partners

The team at Every Woman's Centre would like to extend our thanks to the PL Healthcare Partners for their generous donation of $650 in support of our Back to School Program!

​

PL Healthcare Partners sold 50/50 tickets to construction workers on site at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, donating the proceeds raised from their September draw!

​

"We at PL Healthcare Partners were very excited to take on this initiative, the construction workers on site were all very supportive by purchasing tickets, and we hope that we can make a difference in the education of our future generation."

Family Connection Night

On Thursday, September 12th, the Every Woman's Centre took part in Family Connection Night at Marion Bridge Elementary School.

​

Students and their families had the opportunity to connect with our staff and learn about the various programs and resources offered by our Centre!

​

We had an amazing time connecting with each and every individual who visited our table and we hope that our services can further benefit students, their families, and community members!

​

Community Challenge!

The team at Every Woman's Centre would like to extend our thanks to the Cape Breton Credit Union, who were sponsors of the Wave Radio Station's Community Challenge for the month of August!

​

The Community Challenge supported the Every Woman's Centre Back to School Program, where community members were encouraged to donate school supplies to help support students and families in need.

​

Presenting the donated school supplies and cheque for $300 is Jose Sanchez, Marketing Coordinator of Cape Breton Credit Union to Wanda Earhart, our Manager of Programming & Community Engagement here at Every Woman's Centre!

Orange Shirt Day

Every Woman's Centre would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, which will soon be approaching on September 30th.

​

"Observed on September 30, 2024, Orange Shirt Day, also known as the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, underscores the profound impacts of residential schools on Indigenous communities. Led by Indigenous voices, this day symbolizes the enduring message that “Every Child Matters,” encouraging Canadians to wear orange shirts to honour the loss of culture, freedom, and self-esteem suffered by Indigenous children. Gender Equality Week

Gender Equality Week is soon approaching!

"Gender Equality Week, observed from September 22 to 28, 2024, aims to raise awareness about the ongoing efforts to eliminate gender disparities and promote inclusivity throughout Canadian society. This week celebrates the progress of advancing gender equality and renews our commitment to addressing persistent gaps. International Day of Peace

International Day of Peace is on September 21st!

"The International Day of Peace, observed annually on September 21, is a global call to promote peace and non-violence. Designated by the UN General Assembly, this day encourages 24 hours of cease-fire and non-violence, reinforcing the ideals of peace worldwide. It is a reminder that peace is attainable and a call for individuals and nations alike to give it a chance" (Women's Centres Connect, 2024)

National Suicide Prevention Day

Every 40 seconds, someone loses their life to suicide (World Health Organization).

​

"National Suicide Prevention Day, first launched as World Suicide Prevention Day (WSPD) in 2003, focuses global attention on the critical issue of suicide and its prevention. Observed on September 10, 2024, this day provides an opportunity to remember those who have lost their lives to suicide and to raise awareness about the importance of mental health support and prevention efforts. Thank You Julia!

The team at Every Woman's Centre would like to extend our thanks to our summer student, Julia MacDoanld!

Today is Julia's last day working with our organization as she will be returning back to school next week.

Julia's efforts and dedication are appreciated by all of our staff members and we are sad to see her go. Thank you so much for all your hard work Julia. Best of luck in the upcoming school year!

Thank You to Curry's Memorial Chapel!

The team at Every Woman's Centre would like to extend their thanks to Lynn Dairou and the other staff members at Curry's Memorial Chapel for their generous donation of supplies for our Back to School Program!

Curry's Memorial Chapel held a collection throughout the month of August to help support our Back to School Program which helps assist families with school supplies!

​

Congratulations Kristen!

Join us in welcoming Kristen Jones to her new role as our Operations Manager at Every Woman's Centre!

​

Kristen previously worked as our Housing Manager for our Almost Home Transitional Housing Program, an initiative of the Every Woman's Centre!

​

Kristen will be overseeing all operation of our three locations and we are so eager to have her in this new role.

Welcome Michaila!

Join us in welcoming the newest member of the Every Woman's Centre team, Michaila Maynard!

​

Michaila will serve as the Social Media Marketing/Front End Coordinator for the Centre, carrying out duties such as managing the Centre's website, social media pages, and other online content. With previous experience in promotions and social media marketing, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Community Studies Degree, Michaila has a passion for making a difference in her community through her combined skills and knowledge!

We are positive that Michaila will be an excellent asset to our team!
