SANE Nurse
Apprecaition

November 1st, 2025

It's time to shine the spotlight on one of our amazing Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANE), Donna Darling!

With nearly 25 years as a Registered Nurse across acute and Primary Health Care, Donna Darling has been an invaluable part of the SANE program since it launched in Cape Breton in 2018.

“Being able to interact with clients of various backgrounds has been rewarding. To see progress in individuals and to share in their successes, no matter how small, is something I value.”

Donna treasures being part of a team that supports survivors through some of the most difficult moments in their lives.

“Experiencing a trauma can be devastating and life-altering. Through our time with a victim, we help to provide a voice and guide them through this experience. It may be a small part of the healing process but it is an important part.”

As Education & Site Coordinator for the past 2 years, Donna has also been key in spreading awareness and knowledge.

“Being involved in education and community partnerships has led me to a new role with Violence Prevention, Intervention & Response as a Clinical Nurse Educator. I’m excited to continue this important work.”

Thank you, Donna, for your dedication and compassionate care. Your impact is profound and deeply appreciated.

We have some great news! Healthy Tomorrow Foundation will feature Hot Bloomers in an upcoming article!

Recently, Wanda & Vanessa ( Co Founders / Co Facilitators) met with Tara Wittchen to talk about the formation of Hot Bloomers, Cape Breton's only support group for women going through all stages of Menopause. Healthy Tomorrow Foundation will feature Hot Bloomers in an article to be launched in early November. It focuses on the inception of an idea that has grown throughout the community since March of this year. Hot Bloomers have been guests on CBC radio and were invited as guest presenters at the Atlantic Menopause Show in Halifax in October. Watch for the upcoming article at the link below!

Woman of Substance

October 23rd, 2025

On Sunday, October 19th, Every Woman’s Centre hosted the Woman of Substance Reception—a time to celebrate and shine a light on the incredible women who continue to make a positive impact in our community. It was a day to honour their hard work, dedication, and the countless ways they support those around them.

We would like to thank everyone who joined us for this special occasion and extend heartfelt congratulations to each and every recipient of this year’s award.

We would also like to take a moment to recognize the outstanding contributions of our Manager of Programming and Community Engagement, Wanda Earhart, a well-deserved recipient of the Woman of Substance Award. Wanda’s outstanding commitment to empowering women and strengthening our community truly embodies the spirit of this honour.

We are so proud to celebrate these remarkable women and the lasting difference they make every day.
